Mixer Board Setup and Audio Interface connections for Pre-Event
Setup the Sound Board, Wireless Mics, Speakers and also the Corded Microphones for Bellarmine's Annual Music Festival.
Tasks that were done included the following:
-
Ensured that 'Monitor' Speakers were added to the setup
-
Ensured the correct power supply was provided to the woofers and sub-woofers
-
Configured the separation of controls for the monitors and the crowd facing speakers
-
Utilized the knowledge of Knights Unplugged event and Radio Setup to ensure that feedback was kept to a minimum
Knights Unplugged Event
Bellarmine Radio BU Radio hosted 4 local Louisville/Bellarmine musicians to play and promote their music. Bellarmine Registered Student Organizations were invited to table the event and support it.

My efforts and work were in the "pre-event setup" and "during the event sound management"

-
During the Pre-Event Setup I was requested to assist with identifying the necessary equipment required to host the event, this included checking the Mixer board, testing the speakers, microphones as well as ensuring that all backup peripherals were kept
-
During the Event, my task was a MixerBoard Operator and I handled all audio aspects and connections to the board as well as ensured that audio levels for each band were set correctly
35,000 Watts: The Story of College Radio Film Screening
Bellarmine Radio and Film Club screened a documentary called 3500 Watts: The Story of College Radio.
The film was about "Learning the impact that college radio has had on the music and media industries for decades, and the impact it continued to uphold."
After the filming there was a Q and A with Jennifer Waits(DJ) at the Bay Area's KFJC radio and co-host of the Radio Survivor podcast, along with Louisville Legend, Sharon Scott, Station Manager of WXOX Community Radio which was streamed live to Bellarmine's Campus.

My impact:
I was brought in at the request of Dr. Kyle Barnett, to troubleshoot and rectify streaming issues minutes before the event began and also ported and ran the entire event on my personal MacBook Pro due to restrictions on the College "Personal Computer" and other technical glitches that occurred.

The Live-Broadcast of the Q and A was also managed and coordinated with the audience as well as the camera was operated by me throughout the entirety of the event.

College Radio and Bellarmine Quad, Network Enhancement
Images on the Right (Mobile - Below):
Bellarmine's Quad Area has an Audio-Rack, where events from Bellarmine Radio and the Student Activities Center (dealing with music), were streamed in the common area.

Skills in Information Technology and Purchase Orders with vendors were used in order to work with the Technology Support Center (TSC) or IT of Bellarmine in order to facilitate this project.

Collaboration with various departments primarily the Communication Department at Bellarmine was necessary and working with the budgets allocated to each department in order to transfer the money towards the TSC.

Purpose:
This was necessary to ensure that Bellarmine Radio was able to utilize better internet bandwidth to stream Bellarmine Radio in the Quad as the current Wi-Fi setup was either overloaded or the signal was poor which as a result of it was causing a lot of dropouts.

Prior Workaround to the issue:
Prior to the fix shown on the right, a makeshift setup was deployed and then rolled back for every radio live broadcast event.
This was done whist working with the Technology Support Center, Bellarmine Facilities and also the Student Activities Center to name a few.

Student Government Association Bill for "Quad Audio Setup" and Budget Approvals
Position of Graduate Representative on SGA:
As an appointed Head of the Graduate Representative and Chair of the Graduate Committee on SGA, I was instrumental in making significant changes across Bellarmine's Graduate Cohort for the first time in more than 7 years.
This position involved connecting with Graduate Students and addressing concerns.

I primarily utilized the position and leveraged my Digital Media and Technology skills to work the Student Body of SGA, to fund a proposed initiative for Bellarmine Radio mentioned above for the Quad Audio.
Proposing a Bill to SGA:
This bill with SGA was primarily successful due to the relationships that were built over the year with undergrad students primarily in the Design and Arts Programs, namely Carlos Vega.

In addition to connecting with individuals, working across the aisle and across the Registered Student organizations, we were able to create a bill and pass the bill with unanimous consent.
Budget Approvals with SGA:
Using negotiation skills acquired in the Corporate Sphere of Information Technology as well as training from former managers and experience negotiating with vendors, I was able to negotiate and deliver the highest budget for two semesters in a row for Bellarmine Radio.
This allowed Bellarmine Radio to host a multitude of events and also buy new technology for the benefit of the RSO and the university culture at large.

Featured Promotions of "Retro and Modern Hits" by Artists
-
Social Media channels across Bellarmine and beyond, noticed the success that the Radio station and particularly the show was having, and voluntarily promoted it.
-
This led to more people not only on campus but also former students and those affiliated with the university to take notice of the impact that Radio and Media were having.
-
Results were wide ranging from people really appreciating that Radio could bring people together in new ways and others who were equally surprised that the radio station at Bellarmine was still active and impactful.
